A top Tomahawk speller fell just short in the Diocesan Spelling Bee.
Jimmy Lee was one of 3 students from St. Marys sent to the bee yesterday afternoon. The 5th grader ended up coming in second place in the competition.
The other two St. Mary’s competitors also had strong showings. Rya Brown took 10th place as a 4th grader. Gracie Turkiewicz came in 27th place.
There were 14 diocesan Schools represented in the Elementary Division, and each school brought their top 3 spellers in 3rd-5th grades, so there were 42 students vying to become the top speller.
