A unique ballet will be performing at Nicolet College this evening.
Founded in 1972 by brother and sister Jesus and Carmen Avila, the Ballet Folklorico dancers and musicians have been entertaining audiences across the nation for 40 years. Their lively authentic regional and traditional Mexican dances have earned kudos from the state of Wisconsin and the Mexican Government Tourism Office. The troupe originated in Madison. Five years ago it was reestablished in Milwaukee, where it continues to train its dancers.
They will be making a stop in the Northwoods this evening performing at Nicolet at 7:30.
Nicolet Theatre Director Jim Nuttall says, “Ballet Folklorico is a thrilling troupe to watch.” He added, “The whole family will enjoy their performers’ spectacular costumes and whirling, fast-paced rhythms.”
