While the weather is not exactly cooperating, a Highway 51 reconstruction project in the Minocqua area is scheduled to begin in a little more than a week.
The start date for the $4.6 million dollar project is scheduled to begin as early as April 1, weather dependent, of course. Construction will include Highway 51 between Front Street and Old Highway 70.
Projects include replacing asphalt, curb and gutter;enhancing pedestrian and bicycle accommodations, installing a new pedestrian activated crosswalk, new lighting and replacing storm sanitary and water lines.
For the majority of construction, at least one lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction. Motorists may encounter additional lane reductions and flagging operations. To minimize impacts during the tourist season, there will be no construction activities on the roadway during the months of July and August.
The two stages are expected to run from April 1 through June 28 and September 3 to November.
