Here in Northern Wisconsin, we often get severe weather along intermittent power outages. Today the country recognizes those who help restore power.
Earlier this week, congress passed with bi-partisan support a resolution declaring April 18 National Lineman Appreciation Day.
That resolution serves two main purposes – it “recognizes the efforts of linemen in keeping the power on and protecting public safety” and “supports the designation of today as National Lineman Appreciation Day.”
Here in Wisconsin those linemen and women, often deal with high winds, knocked down trees, lightning strikes, heavy snows and ice. The various electric utilities across the state including Wisconsin Public Service and We Energies are taking the time today to recognize those that keep us powered.
