A Tomahawk Senior is being recognized as a student-athlete in the truest sense of the words.
Austin Bellile has been named a finalist for the 30th annual WIAA Scholar Athlete Program. Thirty two seniors, 16 boys and 16 girls, were selected for their combined classroom and sports performances over their high school careers.
In his 4 years at THS, Austin has received 8 varsity letters in football, wrestling and track. His wrestling career concluded with an appearance at the state tournament this spring. Perhaps the one place where Austin is even more successful is the classroom where the 4.0 student finished at the top of his graduating class. He is the eighth finalist from Tomahawk High School.
The 2013 WIAA Scholar Athlete Finalists will be recognized at an awards ceremony May 5 in Wausau. Featured speaker will be former Wisconsin Badger and Green Bay Packer Bill Ferrario. Eight winners will be chosen, one male and one female from each division. Austin’s “competitors” will be Andrew Klapper,—Waupun; Seth Liegel—River Valley High; and Bryce Miller–Ashland
Each 2013 WIAA Scholar Athlete Finalist will receive a medallion and certificate, and will take with them a special plaque for display in their school’s trophy case.
