Tomahawk Man Airlifted After Response to Brush Fire

06 May News

A Tomahawk man was airlifted from the scene after officials responded to a fire late yesterday afternoon. Those officials believe the ailment may have been medically caused rather than from the fire.

A DNR Warden came across the brush fire and called for assistance. The property was located on County Road T at Highway 8 in the town of Somo.

The warden found the 76 year old man lying in the woods. Officials closed County Rd. T to allow for the MedEVac helicopter to land at the scene. According to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office the man was transported to Aspirus Hospital in Wausau, where he was listed in critical condition as of last night.

The investigating deputy believes the man was burning garbage when the fire got away from him and ignited the brush. It is their thought that the man’s condition was a previous medical condition.

Local Fire Departments were able to extinguish the fire before it could spread further.
