The city of Tomahawk continues to expand ATV routes in the community.
Last night the council opened two more roads to ATV traffic by unanimous voice vote. The ordinance amended the code to now include ATV operations on Fourth Street from Wisconsin Avenue to River Street and Wisconsin Avenue from Railway Street to Seventh Street.
Prior to the vote, the council held a public hearing, but no one spoke. In their discussions prior to the vote, council members said they heard from both community members and business owners about opening up those streets to allow for better access for the growing ATV community.
At this point, the only roads not open to ATV operation remain the roads incorporated into State Highway 86, South Tomahawk Avenue to the West City limits and Somo Avenue to the East.
This was the second reading of the ordinance meaning that it goes into effect pending publication.
