A construction project expected to last much of the summer will get underway in Lincoln County today.
The project includes a $3.6 million dollar resurfacing on Highway 51. Other improvements include: resurfacing the on-ramps and off-ramps at County K and County S; placing an anti-skid surface on the County S overpass, repaving the shoulders and some routine bridge maintenance.
During road work, there are expected single lane closures and flagging operations. The highway will remain open at all times. Construction is scheduled for completion by early September 2013.
Here in Tomahawk, Mike Tolvstad stopped by the station this morning with another update on local roadwork.
Crews are planning on finishing up work today on Wisconsin Avenue. They will clean up tomorrow and hope to paint lines late this week.
The South Tomahawk Avenue project continues along, and they hope to pave the second side of the road today. If all goes well they will start working on the rail road crossings tomorrow, and that should take a couple of days.
Finally, the North 4th Street detour will go into effect at some point on Thursday. Work crews will bring in equipment over the weekend, and construction is slated to start Monday.
