The Tomahawk School district has reached agreement on staff salary and wages for next school year.
After some discussion, the board ultimately approved agreements with the T.E.A., who had previously ratified the agreement. The contract includes a 1% increase in salary for next school year. By contrast, the Wausau School district also reached an agreement this week with a 2% increase.
The Tomahawk board also approved a $1,000 adjustment in supplemental pay for those full time teachers making less than $45,000. This will allow those younger teachers to “catch up.” Board members hope this will keep the best and brightest teachers, rather than having Tomahawk serving as a training ground for other districts.
The board also approved the agreement with N.E.S.T. for this year and next. For the 2012-13 staff, the increase will be 1.5% of each individual pay. Increase for next year will be 2% aggregate, evenly distributed.
Prior to approval and discussion, the board met in closed session for approximately 30 minutes. Eventually they approved the agreements by unanimous voice vote.
Other action from last nights meeting includes soliciting bids for food service vendors while simultaneously posting the vacant food service director position; preventative maintenance building projects for the summer; updating the library policy and designating funds for the school forest.
