When mill workers in Mosinee and Rhinelander reported to work yesterday it was officially as part of Expera Specialty Solutions.
The sale of the two mills to KPS Capital Partners has been several months in the making. At the start of the year, Wausau Papers announced they were selling the two Northern mills in Mosinee and Rhinelander.
A short time later KPS announced they would be purchasing these mills, along with two in DePere and Kaukauna. They then created the Expera brand which will include the 4 specialty paper mills.
Since that announcement they have been working on the sale parameters which included ratification with workers. The sale of the two months netted Wausau Paper $109 million.
In the past year and a half, Wausau Paper closed the more than 100 year old Brokaw mill and also a mill in Brainerd as they change the scope of their operation.
