First an update on a man that was injured after falling from a golf cart on the Fourth has now been released from the hospital. The 24 year old Milwaukee man was air lifted to Aspirus in Wausau for treatment of facial and neck injuries.
Lincoln County Deputies detained three subjects on Tuesday night after Marathon County Authorities requested they attempt to locate a vehicle involved in an incident just south of the county line. A land owner saw a passenger car pull into a field and heard what he thought were gunshots. When he drove to the area the vehicle fled north at a high rate of speed. A Lincoln County Deputy found the vehicle a short time later on State Rd 64. The occupants of the vehicle admitted they were shooting off fireworks and a large amount of illegal fireworks were located in the vehicle. The fireworks were confiscated and Marathon County will handle law enforcement.
A 25 year old Merrill woman escaped injury after rolling her vehicle over Wednesday morning in the Town of Tomahawk. Cell 911 calls reported the crash on State Rd 86 at County Rd O at 4:37 AM. The driver told a Deputy she swerved to avoid a turkey and rolled her vehicle over. She refused medical treatment from the Tomahawk Ambulance that responded to the scene.
An 18 year old Tomahawk man was taken into custody early Friday morning after a traffic stop in the City of Tomahawk. The vehicle was initially stopped for operating without functioning tail lamps. The man was placed through field sobriety tests and as a result was taken into custody for a first offense of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. He was later released to a responsible party.
A 52 year old Marshfield man was cited for operating a boat while intoxicated after the Rec. Deputy stopped a boat on Deer Lake Saturday evening. The Rec Deputy and a DNR warden observed the man traveling at a high rate of speed near piers, the shoreline and through a no wake zones. Following a stop, the operator showed signs of impairment and was placed through field sobriety tests. He was cited for that violation along with speed and no wake violations.
The Fourth of July holiday kept Deputies busy this past week. Several complaints were investigated regarding illegal fireworks being discharged with the main issue being the late hours it was being done. Deputies also reported heavy traffic throughout the week and weekend. Twenty one driving complaints were reported over the weekend, most involving driver’s on US Hwy 51. Twenty six motorists were also checked on during this past week, again most of the break down’s were on Hwy 51.
Ten people reported striking deer this past week.
