Northwoods residents continue their fundraising efforts with the Relay for Life. This time it’s Minocqua’s turn.
Lakeland Union High School will host the Relay for Life Northern Lights event, which starts this evening at 6:00. The Luminaria lap is scheduled for 9:30, and they will also feature a survivor lap and caregiver’s lap.
As always, each local event puts their own unique twist. The Northern Lights event will feature food and refreshments, live music, and Root Beer Floats served up by one of the teams.
Rita Mazur, Event Chairman said, “This event is a celebration of lives saved and the lives of those who have passed on, everyone knows someone who has been affected by cancer in some way, this is our chance to remember what they have accomplished in their lives.” Organizers invite the community to come to the stadium tonight to cheer on the participants and enjoy the event.
Last month, Tomahawk and Rhinelander each held events, raising a combined $40,000 between the two. Eagle River and Merrill have events coming up the first weekend in August.
