The James Beck Cancer Center will be hosting the Sixth Annual Celebration of Life – Spreading Hope, Courage and Love this evening.
This celebration is to honor cancer survivors for their strength and courage; to recognize the contributions of their families, friends, and healthcare providers; to promote awareness that knowledge, hope and inspiration can help beat cancer; and to emphasize the fact that cancer survivors can live active, productive lives even though they still face many challenges.
This year’s guest speaker is Marcia Gunderson. She is a four-year survivor of breast cancer, having been diagnosed in February 2009. She was treated at James Beck Cancer Center with chemo and radiation and is currently in remission.
Other activities will include a butterfly release, open house tours of the James Beck Cancer Center, announcement of the winners of the children’s butterfly coloring contest, and educational displays and support materials. Light refreshments will be served.
The event is scheduled tonight from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the James Beck Cancer Center on the grounds of Ministry Saint Mary’s Hospital.
