Area Law Enforcement Agencies saturated Merrill late last week in effort to remove drugs from the community.
The coverage throughout the day Friday included traffic stops, bar checks and home visits to probation/parole clients. As a result, eight criminal charges, 1 felony and seven misdemeanors, along with 15 citations were issued. People were cited for possession of drugs, drug paraphernalia, bail jumping and probation violations.
That effort included 32 officers from the Merrill Police Department, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, the Department of Corrections and K9 units from Tomahawk, Rhinelander and Lac Du Flambeau.
A released statement says, “Law Enforcement in Lincoln County remains committed to keeping drugs off of the streets. Operations similar to this are currently being planned for the future.”
They also note that there are free programs available to help those that may have a drug problem by contacting the Lincoln County Health Care Center or the local Narcotics Anonymous at 866-590-2651.
