Lincoln County officials report another scam attempt has been thwarted.
A woman in the town of Schley received a call from a young male pretending to be her grandson. He claimed to have been arrested and jailed while on vacation inMexico.
A second male claiming to be from the US Embassy then instructed the woman to use a wire service to send bail money.
The woman began the process before becoming suspicious and contacting officials at the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies were able to verify the woman’s grandson was not in jail. They also got Western Union to refund the money, totaling more than $1,000.
