With several provisions of the Affordable Care Act going into effect in the coming months, the state will be holding several public information sessions, with the first two here in the Northwoods.
One of those provisions is the federal insurance exchange which becomes effective January 1, but enrollment can begin October 1.
In an effort to provide a forum for citizens to gather information about the Affordable Care Act, the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance along with the Department of Health Services will host informational sessions across the state in the form of town hall meetings. These 90-minute meetings will be open to anyone who has an interest in learning more about the ACA.
Staff will be available to provide information highlighting the most important issues people should be aware of. They will also be available to answer questions. These meetings are informal and will be guided by the issues the people in attendance bring to the table.
The first announced meeting will be in Rhinelander next Tuesday at the Oneida County Sheriff’s Training Center from 10:30 to noon. Then later that day, there will be a hearing in Wausau at North Central Technical College from 3:00 to 4:30.
