Kids and young adults aren’t the only ones heading back to class in early September, Nicolet College has the kick-off of their Fall Learning in Retirement Program this evening, with classes beginning next Monday.
Nicolet’s Learning in Retirement Program gives retired adults the opportunity to continue learning in a wide variety of classes. Some of the topics include: Bicycling the Czech Republic, a Nature Series, Brain Health, Chorus and the Roots of Religion.
Community Representative Nancy Brissee says, ““Any of the offerings is a great way for active retirees to learn new things and meet new people. The whole point is to have fun and stay active and every class offers the opportunity to do exactly that.”
One of the benefits of these sessions is the chance for leaning without the stress of grades or tests.
Classes will be held throughout the Northwoods in Rhinelander, Tomahawk, Crandon, Three Lakes, Eagle River, and Minocqua. Some classes will meet just once while others are held once a week over the course of months. A full list of the courses is available on the Nicolet Website.
Around 300 retirees in the northwoods participate. The membership is just $35 and is good for as many or as few classes as desired.
