The Merrill School Board has filled their vacancy at a special meeting held last week.
After two rounds of votes, Linda Yingling was selected by the board. The vacancy was created when board president Jeff Verdoorn announced his resignation over the summer.
The board solicited interested members from the community. They interviewed 5 candidates. Yingling received 4 votes in the first round of voting with two other candidates receiving 2 votes each. A majority of 5 votes was required. During the second vote Yingling received the necessary total.
Yingling will serve out the remainder of the term which runs through April.
In the general election this past April, she fell just over 100 votes shy of being elected to the board.
