A Merrill man remains in jail after allegedly throwing items at law enforcement officers over the weekend.
Deputies from Lincoln County along with Merrill Officers were investigating a disturbance in the Town of Russell. The original disturbance had been resolved and the suspect had left the scene without arrest. While deputies and officers spoke near the location, they started getting struck by ice chunks and rocks.
According to the Sheriff’s Report, the 26 year old suspect was identified, and said he was throwing the items at the law enforcement officers to distract them. Two of the officers were struck in the head but were not injured, a bystander’s truck was also struck and damaged.
The suspect was brought to the Lincoln County where he was charged with disorderly conduct, criminal damage to property and attempted battery on a law enforcement officer. He remains jailed awaiting a bond hearing later today.
