A Taylor County man accused of shooting and wounding a Sheriff’s Deputy will appear in court this afternoon.
Twenty eight year old Alexander Schneider is facing seven charges stemming from the incident earlier this month. This includes attempted first-degree intentional homicide, possession of a firearm contrary to an injunction, possession of a short barreled shotgun and bail jumping.
On September 8, Taylor County Deputy Chad Kowalczyk was struck by a bullet in the abdomen while responding to a complaint at Schneider’s Westboro home. He was able able to make it to his car to call for back up. Deptuy Kowalczyk was transported to an area hospital and was released several days later.
Schneider was taken into custody a few hours after that incident. He has remained in jail on $1 million dollars bond.
Today’s court hearing, an initial appearance, in Taylor County is scheduled for 2:30.
