In advance of statewide public hearings, the Wisconsin DNR will discuss proposed rules from the Deer Trustee Report recommendations as part of an online chat later today.
The session will try to answer questions while collecting feedback from the public on the various proposals. Topics will include the general season structure, deer management units, and deer management assistance programs. Other proposed program changes include transitioning to an automated deer registration system in the next two years, and restoring a restriction on the harvest of albino/white deer.
Today’s chat begins at Noon, on the DNR website or their Facebook page. Public hearings will then begin next week, with 35 scheduled including Eagle River, Rhinelander, Antigo, Medford, Park Falls and Schofield. We’ll have more on those times and locations as the dates approach.
