A man was hospitalized after crashing his bicycle and being struck by a car in Wausau yesterday afternoon.
Law enforcement officials say the 55 year old man was exiting a business parking lot onto Alexander street via bicycle when the incident happened. They say he saw a car coming late, locked his brakes and flipped over the handlebars.
The teenage driver of the car was not able to stop quickly enough and impacted the man. Several nearby pedestrians were able to assist in freeing the man safely. He was transported to an area hospital.
Officials say the bicyclist may have had a partially obstructed view and did not yield the right of way.
