A town of Harrison woman lost nearly $600 after becoming the victim of an online loan scam. The scammer instructed the woman to purchase a “green dot” card to process a loan she applied for. She sent the card information before realizing the scam. Green Dot cards are popular among scammers because it is nearly impossible to trace.
A Merrill woman was arrested Thursday at a home in the Town of Pine River. The 53 year old had a home monitoring unit that detected alcohol. The Wisconsin Dept. of Corrections requested the woman be taken in for violating terms of probation. The responding deputy also received a positive alcohol test and the woman was transported to the Lincoln County Jail.
On Friday, a Rec. Deputy investigated after two youths riding snowmobiles went onto private land on County Rd C in the Town of Schley and may have caused thousands of dollars’ worth of damage to the golf course. The Sheriff’s Office reminds operators to stay on the marked trails as Lincoln County system is made up mostly of private land who offer their land for snowmobile club use.
A 42 year old Gleason man is in the Lincoln County Jail facing charges after Deputies responded to an ambulance call in the Town of Russell. The initial ambulance request was for a woman who fell. When Deputies arrived they found the woman had fallen after becoming involved in an altercation. The suspect was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of battery and a felony charge of strangulation. He is being held in the Lincoln County Jail awaiting a bond hearing today. The victim was treated and released.
