Deputies stood by for a pair of fire calls early last week. The first was to a fire called in by a neighbor that turned out to be excess smoke from a pellet stove. The second was for a fire overnight Tuesday on Center Road. Officials were on the scene for over two hours and contained the fire to the walls of the attic.
Black ice caused issues on Lincoln County roadways on the New Years Holiday. A truck towing a snowmobile trailer lost control and struck a second vehicle on Highway 51. That accident caused traffic to be closed with several snowmobiles across the highway. Traffic was reopened in just over an hour.
A Rockford, Illinois man was taken into custody after his vehicle entered the ditch earlySaturday. A deputy came across the vehicle on Highway A at just before 2am. The man showed signs of impairment as was asked to perform a field sobriety test. As a result the man was arrested on a first offense of of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. He was brought to the jail until he was sober enough to be released on his own accord.
A 24 year old Tomahawk man was taken into custody early Sunday morning. A Deputy was traveling north on US Hwy 51 when he observed the vehicle in front of him driving from the right shoulder completely over to the left shoulder of the road. After showing signs of impairment the man was asked to perform a field sobriety test. As a result he was taken into custody on a first offense of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. He was later released to a responsible party.
A 23 year old Tomahawk man was arrestedSunday afternoon on a warrant charge. Following a tip, a Deputy went to a residence on County Rd CC in the Town of Wilson Sundayafternoon. A check showed the man was wanted in Waushara County for failing to pay child support. The man was taken into custody and brought to the Lincoln County Jail.
Deputies plan on putting extra miles on patrol the next few days to check for stranded motorists in the extreme cold. 4 people reported striking deer this past week.
