Freezing temperatures have once again caused a number of closures throughout the state.
For the second consecutive night, temperatures dipped to 20 to 30 degrees below zero. With a light wind, that left windchills even further below zero.
As a result nearly all school districts north of highway 10 called off school for today. All extra curricular activities have either been canceled or postponed.
The sustained cold temperatures have brought continued warnings from area health departments about the risk of frostbite and hypothermia. People should avoid spending time outdoors unless absolutely necessary.
When traveling carry a winter emergency kit and a fully charged cell phone.
