A special State Assembly Task Force focusing on the issues affecting rural schools continues to meet.
That task force will hold another public hearing this afternoon in Antigo. They are looking for solutions for problems affecting rural schools such as transportation costs and declining enrollment.
The group is chaired by Rep. Rob Swearingen of Rhinelander. He says, “The first three months of working with rural school legislators has proven beneficial. I am very excited about continuing our public hearings around Wisconsin.”
In addition to public input, they will hear from superintendents, CESA 9, and a presentation from the Wisconsin Virtual Schools.
This is the fourth public hearing of The Rural School Task Force. They are planning for two more around the state before the final report is completed in March.
Today’s hearing begins at 1:30 at Antigo High School.
