Lincoln County Board members conveyed they needed more information and therefor more time in the ongoing discussion regarding the Lincoln County Fairgrounds.
Back in November, the board requested the broad study of what needed to be done at the fairgrounds in Merrill. The ongoing discussion is entering its third year after the grandstand was damaged in 2012.
Both Maintenance Director Pat Gierl and Lincoln County Economic Development Director Sue Ryman discussed their findings. Gierl gave a run-down of the various topics that need to be addressed including bathroom updates, parking and various other infrastructure. The one thing missing was costs which largely depend on a definitive plan.
Ryman discussed the various grant options available that could be used to fund a full scale feasibility study. Board members felt it was important that an unbiased group take a look at all solutions. Ryman also gave her opinion that it would be of more value to take a little extra time to get all the information to make an informed decision.
In the end, this was just a report with no formal action taken, however supervisors largely indicated support for pursuing the in-depth feasibility study.
