Lincoln County Deputies tended to a semi rollover last week. The incident happened on State Rd. 64 East of Merrill. The driver of the semi told investigators an oncoming car crossed the center line and the semi left the roadway when taking evasive action. The semi was carrying nearly 80,000 pounds of potatoes at the time. The road was closed for several hours Tuesday evening as a towing company worked to upright the truck.

A 28 year old Madison man is facing additional charges after damaging jail property. The man was brought to the jail last weekend on an outstanding warrant. He was unable to post bond and following the hearing, he allegedly damage the jail phone. The following day he returned to court and was charged with bail jumping and criminal damage to property. The man remains jailed on the initial charges.

A 27 year old Irma man was arrested Friday afternoon after Deputies responded to a report of a disturbance in the Town of Birch. Just before3:00 PM Deputies went to a home in Irma after second hand calls reported there was a fight happening. Deputies took the man into custody for disorderly conduct. He was brought to the Lincoln County Jail where he was able to post a cash bond late Friday night and be released.

A 25 year old Burlington , WI woman was taken into custody early yesterday after Deputies investigated a crash in the Town of Wilson. A vehicle was reported in the ditch on US Hwy 8 and County Rd CC. The driver admitted to deputies that she had been drinking prior to the crash. Field sobriety tests were administered and the woman was taken into custody for a first offense of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. She was later released to a responsible party.

A 24 year old Merrill man remains jailed after an incident over the weekend. The man initially contact the sheriff’s office regarding his vehicle in the ditch on Fairview Road in the Town of Scott. Due to the weather, deputies informed the man the vehicle needed to be removed. At this point deputies say the man became belligerent. They located the man at a home, when they tried speaking with him, he once again began swearing and threatened the deputies. The suspect was taken into custody for two counts of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and a felony charge of intimidating a victim for threatening the violence towards the Deputy. The man will have a bail hearing on this afternoon in Lincoln County Court.

The number of car deer crashes continues to increase with three being reported this past week.
