Tomahawk may have some development with the vacant hospital building in the city.
Mayor Bob Lee announced and briefly discussed the development at yesterday’s planning and zoning and city council meetings. He says the Milestone Corporation is looking at putting an assisted living facility at the property.
Mayor Lee says the old hospital building would be demolished and replaced with the 20 bed facility. It would also include a 20 bed memory unit. Other features including adult daycare or the senior center could also be developed.
Milestone has several other northwoods locations according to their website including Woodruff, Rhinelander, and Eagle River.
Plans could come back at next month’s meeting. They hope to begin the project this spring or early summer.
The former hospital building was vacated when Ministry Sacred Heart moved to their new location in 2013.
