The Tomahawk School District has found their next elementary school principal.
At last night’s board meeting Penny Antell was approved as the next administrator in the elementary. She’ll be following Dan McGuire who took a similar position in New Richmond.
Antell comes from the DC Everest school district where she most recently served as their reading coordinator. She is currently working towards receiving her PhD in reading.
District administrator Sherri Baker says that 5 finalists were chosen, narrowed down to two for that final position.
The contract initially appeared on the consent agenda items but was pulled off and into a separate item at the end of the meeting. Following a lengthy stay in closed session on other matters, the board did approve her standard administrator contract unanimously.
McGuire also participated in last night’s meeting, thanking the staff, administrators, board, the parents and students for making his time here in Tomahawk a positive one. He received a standing ovation from those in attendance.
