Area groups continue to benefit from the State Department of Tourism JEM Grants.
Earlier this week the Bad Water Bass and Bash Fishing Tournament in Florence County received nearly $6,000. The July 12 event is expected to bring in around $60,000 to the community through visitor spending. The event will feature a variety events centered around the fishing.

JEM stands for Joint Effort Marketing, and the grants are designed to help spread the word about events to areas that may not otherwise receive coverage. Last year the state provided more than $1.2 million to 56 JEM projects.
