Wisconsin Public Service is letting customers know that they will once again be employing college students as summer field technicians.
During the summer months, technicians perform a variety of tasks to help keep the electric and natural gas infrastructure safe and reliable. This includes checks on WPS equipment and meters on customer property and they’ll also install informational signs on poles. Therefore, customers may see these employees in yards and on the roadways.
WPS says that all of the students have WPS ID badges, wear WPS vests and drive WPS marked vehicles. Students are inspecting WPS meters and services to ensure they are in good working order. Customers may see the students and/or vehicles in their neighborhoods and are advised to call WPS if they are unsure of anything regarding their electric or natural gas service.
WPS also noted that these summer workers are not able to take bill payments.
