The storms that passed through the area early yesterday morning may have resulted in a house fire.
Fire crews and responders were called to a home in the town of Scott early yesterday morning. This happened at just after midnight yesterday on Corning Road. Crews arrived to find heavy black smoke and a fire in the attic.
They believe that a lightning strike to the home was likely the cause of the fire.
The homeowners were not there at the time, but a relative heard and felt the strike and was able to make it out safely.
The fire was extinguished and fire crews began salvage operations. Reports indicated significant damage to the home.
