Today voters will head to the polls to set up this fall’s ballot.
The election today is the partisan primary across the state of Wisconsin, where voters choose candidates for most state races, congress, and just a few county positions.
In the district 7 US Congressional seat, which takes up most of Northern Wisconsin, incumbent Sean Duffy faces Don Raihala on the Republican primary, Mike Krsiean faces Kelly Westlund on the Democratic side. Mary Czaja is the only candidate for the 35th assembly district. Jeff Mursau and Rob Swearingen also run unopposed.
Jeff Jaeger, Paul Proulx and Cindy Kimmons all run unopposed at the county level as Lincoln County Sheriff, coroner and clerk of circuit court respectively.
A few things to remember about today’s election:
-It is a partisan primary, meaning you can only vote for candidates in one party.
-The court decision regarding voter ID will not affect today’s election. ID’s are not required today.
-Polls in Tomahawk will remain open until 8pm at SARA Park.
