Authorities say the driver of an SUV that crashed, killing two 12-year-old girls, didn’t have a driver’s license.
The 16 year old girl appeared in juvenile court Monday, where she was placed on electronic monitoring. Prosecutors were granted 48 hours to file charges. At that same hearing, Judge Greg Huber recused himself because he knows members of the victim’s family.
That crash happened last Friday morning, northeast of Wausau. There were 10 occupants in the car. Seven have been treated and released, one person remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Last night friends and family, including some of the victims, held a candlelight vigil to remember the two girls. The Wausau School District and Horace Mann Middle School are making counseling services available to students.
