Bicyclists and pedestrians will have a chance to weigh in today on the continued development of a trail system in the Tomahawk area.
There will be an open house meeting this evening at City Hall by the Tomahawk Silent Sports Group. Its part of a larger goal of expanding the trails used by bikes, walkers, and other silent sports to connect various routes to the city’s parks and other attractions.
One area of focus is connecting the Hiawatha Trail to the Riverwalk which would open up the path to the North 4th Street corridor. Organizers will have maps with other plans for the system. They are also interested on expanding signage on existing and future trails.
It comes on the heels of an expansion north of Tomahawk that connects the Hiawatha Trail to the Bearskin, linking Tomahawk and Minocqua. A ribbon cutting ceremony for that project will be next weekend.
But first is the meeting in Tomahawk tonight. It will be at 5:30, and that meeting will be held at City Hall. (Updated location)
