General Announcements

The Kwahamot Water Ski Shows are held on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 8:00 PM at Kwahamot Bay, along the North Fourth Street Bridge.  The Kwahamot Water Ski Club is sponsoring the Kwahamot Pyramid Payout again this year.  Only 500 tickets will be sold, each ticket is $20.00 and drawings will be held at the ski shows, need not be present to win.  Tickets are available from Tomahawk Sports Center, Kwahamot members and at WJJQ Radio.

The Tomahawk Lions Club Merchandise Raffle has over $3,000.00 in prizes this year.  It is your chance to win everything from gift certificates at area businesses to an AJ Hawk autographed football or four Badger football tickets.  Stop by the Tomahawk Chamber of Commerce to purchase your tickets, just $2.00 each with the drawing on July 4 at 7:00 PM at Sara Park.  For more information call Orrin at 453-7106.

Dan Salewske of the Tomahawk Lions Club is now collecting donations for this year Pow Wow Days celebration.  Any business, organization, or individual community members that would like to make a donation in support of the 57th anniversary edition of Pow Wow Days would be greatly appreciated.  You can send your contributions to the Tomahawk Lions Club, PO Box 754, Tomahawk, WI  54487.

The annual North for the 4th T-shirts are now on sale as a fundraiser for Tomahawk Main Street.  The shirts are a limited edition each year and can be purchased at Tomahawk Ben Franklin, Tomahawk Surplus Store, Cover-to-Cover Books and Gifts, and at Tomahawk Main Street office.

Ministry Medical Group-Tomahawk and Ministry Rehab Services are offering free, pre-participation sports physicals for any athlete who will be entering grades six through eleven on Thursday, July 23 between 1:00 and 6:00 PM at Sacred Heart Hospital/Ministry Medical Group Clinic on West Mohawk Drive.  Registration is required and a partent/guardian will need to accompany their child in order to complete the paperwork.  Call 453-7740 to register, physicals are offered free of charge, but a $20.00 contribution for the general scholarship fund at Tomahawk High School is appreciated.

The new American Legion Baseball drawing calendars are now available, with the first drawing on September 1, 2009.  Calendars are $20.00 and are available from Legion members, at the Legion Club House, many area businesses and here at WJJQ.  Proceeds from the calendar sales will benefit the American Legion Baseball Team.

The Nurses Closet at St. Paul Lutheran Church loans medical equipment to those in need at no charge.  Equipment provided includes:  wheel chairs, walkers, canes, commodes, shower benches and chairs, raised toilet seats, and hospital beds.  If you have a need, please call the church at 453-5391.

The Tomahawk Lions Club and Tomahawk Chamber of Commerce present the annual Craft Show at Sara Park Soccer Fields from 9:00 to 3:00 PM.

The Eagle River Antique Show and Sale will be held from 9:00 to 5:00 PM Friday and 9:00 to 4:00 PM Saturday at Northland Pines High School, 1800 Pleasure Island Road in Eagle River. 

Grace Lutheran Church Youth Mission is hosting a brat fry and car wash from 10:00 to 2:00 PM at Grace Lutheran Church parking lot.

Tomahawk Community Blood Drive at the Spruce Room of Sacred Heart Hospital from Noon to 5:00 PM.  To schedule an appointment call 800-280-4102 or go to www.save3lives.org.  Wall-in donors are welcome.

Enjoy the Kwahamot Water Ski Show at 8:00 PM at Kwahamot Bay along the North Fourth Street Bridge.  It is the annual “Old Timers Show”, plus the Pow-Wow Queen Coronation will be held at intermission.

Saturday, July 4

The Tomahawk Lions Club annual Pow Wow Days 5K/10K/Fun Run will be held at Veteran’s Memorial Park.  Registration is at 7:30 PM, with the races beginning at 9:00 AM.  Games for kids will follow.  For more information go to www.TomahawkLions.org.

Please join the Willow Region Volunteer Fire Department at their second annual pancake breakfast from 8:00 to Noon.  All proceeds benefit the Willow Region Volunteer Fire Department. 

The Eagle River Antique Show and Sale will be held from 9:00 to 4:00 PM Saturday at Northland Pines High School, 1800 Pleasure Island Road in Eagle River.  

The Tomahawk Historical Society is having their strawberry sundae social from 11:00 to 2:00 PM at the museum on Washington Avenue.

The annual Pow Wow Days Parade through downtown Tomahawk will begin at 1:00 PM.  The parade can be heard live on WJJQ-FM.

The Tomahawk Lions Club will sponsor fun activities at Sara Park beginning at 2:00 PM.  There will be food and beverages available, along with kids’ games, dunk tank, merchandise raffle ticket sales, and fireworks at dusk.  For more information go to www.TomahawkLions.org.

A pig and corn roast will be held at Mr. Ed’s beginning at 2:00 PM, with live music at 5:00 PM.  All proceeds benefit the Northwoods Passage Snowmobile Club.

The Kwahamot Water Ski Show will begin at 7:30 PM at Kwahamot Bay, along the North Fourth Street Bridge, followed by the Tomahawk Lions Club Fireworks Display at dusk. 

The Mecikalski Stovewood Museum is having a brat roast at the Schoepke Town Hall on Highway 45 in Pelican Lake.  There will be coffee and bakery items at 8:00 AM and brats, potato salad, beans, homemade pies from 10:00 to 4:00 PM.

Clover Club, N8894 County Road H in Irma, will hold an ATV pull to benefit the Children’s Miracle Network.  There will be raffles, food, drinks and prizes.  Registration for the ATV pull begins at Noon, $15.00 modified class and $10.00 stock class.  For information call (715) 687-4467.

Wednesday, July 8

United Methodist Church of the Pines will host a Pine Country Fair from 10:00 to 3:00 PM on Chicago and Chippewa Streets in Minocqua.  Lunch will be served from 11:00 to 1:00 PM.  There will also be crafts, country cupboard, silent auction and homemade pies.

It’s Wa Wau BINGO at the Sara Park Activity Center.  The doors open at 5:30 PM, cards on sale at 6:00 PM and the first big bucks game is at 7:00 PM.  There will be 15 games, with $550.00 and $1,000.00 to be given away based on the number of players.  The progressive jackpot should be near $3,900.00. 

The Music on the River Committee presents Music on the River at Veteran’s Memorial Park from 6:30 to 8:30 PM.  House of Grace will be playing contemporary Christian rock.

The Tomahawk Farmers Market begins at 7:30 AM in downtown Tomahawk.

The Tomahawk Flea Market will be held from 8:00 to 2:00 PM on the backside of Washington Square on Fifth Street between Lincoln and Washington Avenue.

The Minocqua Public Library will host local author Sandy Gillum, talking about “Loons: Creatures of Habitat” at 7:00 PM in the Board Room of the Minocqua Community Building.

The Tomahawk Community Bank Relay for Life Team will be holding a strawberry shortcake sale starting at 9:00 AM until sold out in the Tomahawk Community Bank Lobby.

The Friends of the Frank B. The Kwahamot Water Ski Club will host their 41st show for the benefit of Shriners Hospital for Children.  The show is scheduled for 7:30 PM on the Wisconsin River next to the Veteran’s Memorial Bridge.  There is no admission, but a free will offering will be received with proceeds to benefit Shriners Hospitals for Children.

St. Paul Lutheran Church of Tomahawk invites youngsters to the 2009 vacation bible school experience Thursday, August 20 and Friday, August 21 at Camp Luther.  You ages 5 to 15 have the choice of one or two days at Camp Luther In Three Lakes with bus transportation provided.  Activities include Christian growth, kayaking, swimming, campfire devotions, archery, canoeing and more.  Registrations are limited and will be taken on a first come basis and are due by June 3.  Registration forms and more information are located in the plastic box outside the ramp door at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tomahawk.  For more information call Lisa at 453-5391.

Preamble Alcoholics Anonymous

Preamble Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength, and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others recover from alcoholism.  The only requirement for AA membership is a desire to stop drinking.  There are no dues for AA membership.  Meetings are held on the following days:
