General Announcements

The Nurses Closet at St. Paul Lutheran Church loans medical equipment to those in need at no charge.  If you have a need, call the church at 453-5391.  They also need your used items to provide more services to more people.  Call the church for free pick-up of your used equipment.

Tomahawk Area Interfaith Volunteers wants to help area residents who are older than 62 years old, who are disabled or who care for someone who is elderly or disabled.  Services are free and confidential, call Jane at 453-4242.

The City of Tomahawk has installed containers and placed red flags in those containers for pedestrians to use while crossing the street in the downtown Tomahawk area.  Motorists are reminded to watch for pedestrians as they have the right away.

Tomahawk Lions Club is presenting “Lions Lotto”, with a one winner only opportunity.  Half of the money will go to the winner, with the other half to local Tomahawk charities.  Tickets are available from many Tomahawk area locations and from Tomahawk Lions Club members.

Ministry Hospice is having a Good Meat to Eat Raffle where you can buy tickets from River Valley Bank in Tomahawk and Ministry Hospice in Rhinelander.  You could win $200.00 worth of USDA choice meat.  The drawing will be held at Noon on Monday, September 6. 

Wednesday, September 1

Lincoln County Health Department offers free and convenient immunizations for children and adults.  All resident are eligible for the free immunizations.  The immunizations will take place from 3:30 to 5:00 PM at the Bradley Town Hall, 1518 W. Mohawk Drive in Tomahawk.

Wa Wau Bingo will be held at the Sara Park Activity Center, with the doors open at 5:30 PM, cards on sale at 6:00 PM and the first game at 7:00 PM.  A total of 15 games will be played with between $550.00 and $1,000.00 to be given away. 

Thursday, September 2

Life Touch will be at Tomahawk High School to take student portraits.  Even if your son/daughter does not purchase school pictures, it is imperative that he/she still has his/her photo taken to be included in the yearbook.  Any questions regarding your child’s photo may be directed to Life Touch at 1-906-226-9521.

The Tomahawk Flea and Farmer’s Market will be from 8:00 to 3:00 PM on the backside of Washington Square on 5th Street, between Lincoln and Washington Avenue.

Tomahawk Main Street Inc. is presenting the Tomahawk Main Street’s Farmer’s Market at the corner of 3rd and W. Wisconsin Avenue.  Enjoy the freshly picked produce from local growers from Noon to 4:30 PM.

Spirit Baptist Church Community Blood Drive from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at Spirit Baptist Church at W1602 State Highway 86 in Ogema.  To schedule a donation appointment call 564-2416 and walk-in donors are welcome.

Northwoods Alliance for Temporary Housing, Inc. will host an open house of Frederick Place from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at 204 West Frederick Street in Rhinelander.  Frederick Place is the future home of NATH’s emergency, temporary shelter for families and individuals who are experiencing homelessness.

The Tomahawk Community Blood Drive will be held from Noon to 5:00 PM at the Spruce Room of Ministry Sacred Heart Hospital.  Call 800-280-4102 to schedule a donation appointment, and walk-in donors are always welcome.

Saturday, September 4

The Friends of Lake Mohawksin will have their annual meeting at 8:00 AM at Sara Park.  Doors open at 8:00 am.

The Minocqua/Kawaguesaga Lakes Protection Association will hold a pig roast, lake fair and silent auction from 11:00 to 2:00 PM at Torpy Park in Minocqua.

The Willow Region Sportsman’s Club is hosting a pork and corn roast with all the trimmings from Noon to 3:00 PM.  The location is 12 miles north of Tripoli on Willow Road to Reel Em Inn Resort.

The Prentice High School Class of 1970 will be gather for their 40th class reunion at the Prentice Bowling Alley at 4:00 PM.  Please call Jerry at (715) 614-6767 for more information.

Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church will host a free Hawaiian style pig roast at Memorial Park starting at 5:00 PM.  Music will be provided by the Schoeneck family throughout the evening.  Meal will be served until food runs out.

The Tripoli Class Reunions of 1959, 1960, 1961 invite other Tripoli Alumni to visit with them at 6:00 PM at the Palmquist Farm in Brantwood.

Tuesday, September 7

Congressman Dave Obey will be at the Tomahawk Senior Center at 2:00 PM to discuss federal issues.  The Tomahawk Senior Center is located at 113 South Tomahawk Avenue.

The 2010-10 Ladies One on One Tuesday night Pool League Fall Meeting will be at 7:00 PM at Cockatiel’s Bar & Grill.

Wednesday, September 8

The Tomahawk Public Library will host Storytime from 4:30 to 5:00 PM at the children’s area.  For more information call Annette at 453-2455.

The Lincoln County Snowmobile Council will meet at 7:30 PM at the Lincoln County Forestry Shop in Irma.

Friday, September 10

There will be a showcase of local vendors at the River Valley Bank Community Room from 9:00 to 4:00PM.  There will be body lotions, jewelry, clothing, Lia Sophia, Avon, Tupperware, Pampered Chef, wildfire cooking products and Jo Wagner will have English baked goods.

Tomahawk Community Bank will be holding a Fire School Brat Fry from 11:00 to 2:00 PM, and there will also be a Northwoods Community Blood Drive at Tomahawk Community Bank’s Community Room from 11:00 to 2:00 PM.

WI Right to Life, Oneida County, announces a Family Fun Birthday Celebration for all from 2:00 to 6:00 PM.

The Town of Bradley will hold their monthly board meeting at 5:30 PM at the Bradley Town Hall.

The United Steel Workers Local Union 2-248 from the PCA Tomahawk Mill will hold the monthly meeting at 7:00 PM at the American Legion.

The women of the United Methodist Church of the Pines will hold their annual fall rummage and bake sale from 9:00 to 5:00 PM and Saturday, September 18 from 9:00 to Noon.  The sale will be at Minocqua Community Center.

The Sacred Heart Hospital Foundation in cooperation with Ministry Medical Group-Tomahawk and Ministry Sacred Heart Hospital will sponsor free health screenings for the community from 8:00 to 11:30 AM at Ministry Sacred Heart Hospital in Tomahawk.

Preamble Alcoholics Anonymous

Preamble Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength, and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others recover from alcoholism.  The only requirement for AA membership is a desire to stop drinking.  There are no dues for AA membership.  Meetings are held on the following days:
