General Announcements

Nicolet College’s Academic Success Department will help individuals complete their GED or HSED, or other individual education goals.  It is located in The Annex at Wisconsin and Tomahawk and open Monday and Wednesday from 9:00 to 3:00 PM.  Call 453-6870 with questions.

Tomahawk Chamber of Commerce presents “2010 TREAT Yourself Tour.”  Tomahawk is restaurant and the chamber is giving you a chance to win prizes by dining at the 12 participating restaurants.  The TREAT tickets are $5.00 and available at the Tomahawk Chamber of Commerce.

Children who will be four years old on or before September 1, 2010 are eligible to enroll in the four-year-old kindergarten program at Tomahawk Elementary School.  Registration begins on February 1, 2010; four-year-old registration will be done through the mail.  Please contact the Tomahawk Elementary School Office at 453-2126 to request a registration packet. 

 Monday, February 8

Residents in the City of Tomahawk are reminded that the Winter Parking Ban is now in effect, until March 15, 2010.  No parking is allowed on any city street between the hours of 2:30 AM and 5:30 AM.

The outdoor skating rink at Pride Park is now open for the season.  Please follow all posted rules.

The cross country ski trails at the Inshalla Country Club are now open and groomed.

American Cancer Society Daffodil day orders are now underway.  Information is available and orders can be placed with Jean at Tomahawk Community Bank, 453-2144.  All orders must be placed by February 12 for delivery on March 16.

The Town of Bradley will be holding the monthly board meeting at 5:00 PM instead of 6:00 PM at the Bradley Town Hall.

Treehaven will host a dinner and movie event at UWSP Treehaven, W2540 Pickerel Creek Road in Tomahawk.  Dinner will be served at 5:30 PM and the movie “Blue Gold: World Water Wars” will begin at 6:30 PM.  The cost for dinner is $10.00, call 453-4106.

Tomahawk Lions Club hosting their Valentine’s Dinner at 6:30 PM at the Tomahawk Lodge.

The Town of Harrison monthly board meeting is at 6:30 PM at the town hall.

People interested in exploring a career in the Health Sciences or Technologies are invited to attend an Open House at Nicolet College from 11:00 to 4:00 PM on the Rhinelander campus.

The Tomahawk Public Library will hold Storytime from 4:30 to 5:00 PM at the Tomahawk Public Library Children’s area.

The Lincoln County Snowmobile Council will meet at 7:30 PM at the Lincoln County Forestry Shop on Highway K in Irma.

Tomahawk Public Library hosting Slumber Tales from 6:00 to 6:30 PM.  Bring the little ones and enjoy bedtime stories and fun.  Children can wear their pajamas and bring a blanket or stuffed animal to snuggle with while they listen to stories.  Please Annette Miller for more information at 453-2455.

Friday, February 12

The annual Father/Daughter Dance will be held from 6:00 to 8:30 PM at the Corpus Christi Center of St. Mary Catholic Church.  The cost per family is $5.00, and tickets must be purchased in advance at St. Mary’s School.

The Terry Bucaro Fine Arts Studio is offering dance lessons for couples from 6:00 to 7:30 PM.  The cost per couple is $10.00, with all proceeds going to the Drew Myers family.  Call 453-7662 to sign-up.

The second annual Cajun Cookoff to benefit the Merrill Community Food Pantry and the Trinity Open Hearts Food Bank will be held at 6:00 PM at Trinity School, 611 W. Main Street in Merrill.  Tickets are available at the door for $7.00. 

Saturday, February 13

Tomahawk Main Street Inc. is sponsoring sweet treats and sweet deals at participating Tomahawk merchants from 9:00 to 3:00 PM.

The annual kids free ice fishing contest will be held from 9:00 to 2:00 PM at the Bradley Park Boat Landing.  There will be prizes, snacks, door prizes and more.  The kids ice fishing contest is sponsored by Tomahawk Fishing Unlimited.

Chef Scott Has, from Eurest Corporation in Minneapolis, will do a special cooking demonstration at 10:00 AM at Trinity School.  Tickets will be available at the door for $5.00.

Northwoods Riders Snowmobile Club will hold a free cook out from 10:30 to 3:00 PM at the club garage by the groomer shed on the 51 trail north of Tomahawk.

AJ’s fourth annual chili cookoff, with proceeds benefiting HAVEN of Lincoln County, will be held at 4:00 PM at the American Legion in downtown Tomahawk.  There will be raffles.

Prentice High School presents “Dinner and a Show” at Prentice High School.  Dinner will be served from 4:30 to 6:30 PM, featuring spaghetti, salad, vegetables, dessert bard and beverage.  The show is at 7:00 PM featuring the Prentice High School band, choir, soloists, groups and Imprint. 

“In Our Hearts” Remembrance Concert will be held at the Tomahawk High School Auditorium.  The doors will open at 5:30 PM with refreshments and viewing of silent auction items and the first performance by The Gaedtke’s at 6:00 PM.  “Redefined”, an accapella choir from Madison will perform at 7:00 Pm.

The Boulder Junction Snowmobile Club is having a breakfast from 8:30 to 12:30 PM at Headwaters Bar on County Highway M and trail 15 N.

Northwoods Riders Snowmobile Club will hold the free membership breakfast at Bootleggers Supper Club on Lakeland Nokomis.

Lincoln County 4-H will sponsor Project Discovery Day in Tomahawk from 9:00 to 1:30 PM at the Tomahawk Middle School.  Project Discovery Day allows youth from all over the county to sample the projects that the 4-H program offers.

Prentice Bushbenders Snowmobile / ATV timed oval races will be held on Buccaneer Pond located behind Sailor’s Bard and Grill in Prentice.  The event will run from 10:00 to 3:00 PM.  The cost is $5.00 per run or three runs for $12.00 with various trophies and fastest lap winners.

Rodeway Inn and Suites is presenting Tomahawk Wedding Wonderland Expo 2010 at the Rodeway Inn and Suites on Comfort Drive in Tomahawk.  Call Char for more information at 453-8900.

Tomahawk Lions Club will present the 2nd annual Tumble in the Tundra – Mudwrestling Mayhem at Inshalla Country Club.  Ten matches are schedules, with food, refreshments and raffles.

Preamble Alcoholics Anonymous

Preamble Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength, and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others recover from alcoholism.  The only requirement for AA membership is a desire to stop drinking.  There are no dues for AA membership.  Meetings are held on the following days:
