General Announcements

Nicolet College’s Academic Success Department will help individuals complete their GED or HSED, or other individual education goals.  It is located in The Annex at Wisconsin and Tomahawk and open Monday and Wednesday from 9:00 to 3:00 PM.  Call 453-6870 with questions.

Tomahawk Chamber of Commerce presents “2010 TREAT Yourself Tour.”  Tomahawk is restaurant and the chamber is giving you a chance to win prizes by dining at the 12 participating restaurants.  The TREAT tickets are $5.00 and available at the Tomahawk Chamber of Commerce.

St. Mary’s School will host the Gala at Inshalla on Friday, April 16 from 6:00 to 11:00 PM.  Tickets are now available for the Gala, $30.00 each, which includes food, refreshments, music and an evening of fun.  Space is limited, and tickets sold out quickly last year.  Tickets can be purchased by calling St. Mary’s School at 453-3542.  

 

Tickets are now available for the annual Time and Treasure Raffle to benefit St. Mary’s School.  The cost is $1.00 per ticket or six tickets for $5.00.  Booklets and tickets are available at St. Mary’s School, after Mass or from St. Mary’s students.

Thursday, March 11

Residents in the City of Tomahawk are reminded that the Winter Parking Ban is now in effect, until March 15, 2010.  No parking is allowed on any city street between the hours of 2:30 AM and 5:30 AM.

Mr. Ed’s Corral is hosting a food drive to benefit the Tomahawk Food Pantry.  Bring in non-perishable food items by March 21 and you may pick a shamrock for prizes and be entered in a drawing for a gift certificate from Mr. Ed’s.

The James Beck Cancer Center at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rhinelander offers a free monthly support group meeting at 10:00 AM in the James Beck Cancer Center Conference Room.

Lenten services will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at 6:00 PM.  St. Paul’s is located at 12 East Wisconsin Avenue in Tomahawk.

The American Legion will have open cribbage at 6:00 PM, with everyone welcome.  The American Legion Club is at 327 West Wisconsin Avenue.

Cadet Girl Scout Troop #7378 will be having a cookie booth at My Feed Store and Garden Shop from 9:00 to Noon.  They will be donating half their profits to the Pets in Need Program.

The Friends of the Jersey Flowage will hold an informational meeting from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Bradley Town Hall.

The national children’s theater touring company ArtsPower will return to the Nicolet College Theatre for a special performance of Four Score and Seven Years Ago at 11:00 AM.  Tickets can be ordered online at www.nicoletlive.com or by calling 365-4646.

A country/bluegrass jam will be held at the Hazelhurst Town Hall on Yawkey Road from 1:00 to 5:00 PM.  Everyone is welcome to attend, questions can be directed to Keith at 356-3793.

The American Legion will have free billiards starting at 4:00 PM, with two pools tables and everyone welcome.  The American Legion Club is at 327 West Wisconsin Avenue.

Town of Harrison monthly board will be at 6:30 PM at the Harrison Town Hall.

Child Find, developmental screening for children from birth to five years is from 8:30 to 5:15 PM at Tomahawk Elementary School.  Appointments are recommended, but walk-ins are also welcome.  Call 453-2126, ext. 108 to schedule your child’s appointment.

Grace Lutheran Church will hold a simple meal of soup at Noon, with a worship service to follow at 1:00 PM.  Also at Grace, an evening supper will be served at 5:30 PM, with worship to follow at 7:00 PM. 

The Tomahawk Public Library will hold Storytime from 4:30 to 5:00 PM at the Tomahawk Public Library Children’s area.

Redeemer Evangelical Church will hold a soup and sandwich supper from 5:00 to 6:30 PM, followed by a worship service at 6:45 PM. 

St. Mary Catholic Church will hold Generations of Faith from 5:00 to 7:30 PM, with meal included.

St. Patty’s Dinner and fundraiser for Haiti Relief at 5:30 PM at First United Methodist Church at 724 Arbutus Street in Rhinelander.  Tickets are $8.00 for adults and $5.00 for children.  Please call for reservations at 362-2091.

The Lake Tomahawk Post 318 American Legion and Auxilary will sponsor a flea market and collectible sale at the Sloan Building from 8:00 to 3:00 PM.

An Easter egg hunt will be held at 1:00 PM at the Gleason Community Club Park, off Highway 17 in Gleason.  There will be candy, prizes, drawings and a visit with the Easter bunny.

Preamble Alcoholics Anonymous

Preamble Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength, and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others recover from alcoholism.  The only requirement for AA membership is a desire to stop drinking.  There are no dues for AA membership.  Meetings are held on the following days:
