THS Girls Basketball

          The Tomahawk Hatchet Girls Basketball Team hosted Antigo on Tuesday night, with the Red Robins defeating Tomahawk 56-45.  Antigo led 14-7 after one, and 25-16 at the half.  The Red Robins led 41-29 after three quarters.

          Anna Sudbury had 23 points and 22 rebounds, Jessie Harmon added 11 points.

          Tomahawk is now 4-10 overall and 0-7 in the GNC.

          Tomahawk will travel to Rhinelander on Friday night, with the opening tip at 7:30 pm.

THS Boys Basketball

          The Tomahawk Hatchet Boys Basketball Team lost to the Antigo Red Robins 45-37 on Tuesday night in GNC action.  Antigo, ranked sixth in Division 2, improves to 15-1 overall and 8-0 in the GNC.

          Jon Nyberg had 15 points and Kyle Bartz had 11 points.

          The Hatchets are 8-9 overall and will host Rhinelander on Friday night, with the broadcast starting at 7:10 pm on Northwoods 92-5 and live on the web at wjjq.com.

THS Girls Hockey

          The Hatchet Girls Hockey Team lost to Marshfield on Thursday 8-1.

          Tomahawk will travel to Northland Pines on Friday, with the opening faceoff at 7:00 pm.

THS Boys Hockey

          The Tomahawk Hatchet Boys Hockey Team won their second straight GNC game on Thursday night, 4-1 over the Rhinelander Hodags at Sara Park.

          Tomahawk led 2-0 after the first and 4-0 after the second.  Rhinelander scored their lone goal in the third period.

          AJ Bunce had a goal and assist, Dylan Dahl, Colton Kammer and Nick Buitron added goals and Luke Schoone, Kenny Kangas and Sam Heim had assists.

          Tomahawk is 6-15 overall and 6-7 in the GNC.

THS Wrestling

          The Tomahawk Wrestling Team finishes the Great Northern Conference Dual Meet Schedule with a 5-0 record, after defeating Medford 42-31 on Thursday night.

          Winning matches for Tomahawk were:  Kevin Zurfluh, Nate Flohr, Larry Hendzel, Jake Borchardt, Kris Cole, Dalvin Sanders, Austin Bellile and Payton DuPlayee. 

          Tomahawk will compete in the GNC Tournament on Saturday, February 4, at Lakeland Union High School.  Gregg and Bob will have coverage starting at 10:00 am on Northwoods 92-5.

THS Boys Swimming

          Tomahawk Boys Swimming Team lost to Lakeland on Thursday night, 99-50 in Great Northern Conference Swimming.

          THS Senior, John Lazarz was able to grab two first place finishes in the 100 yard Butterfly at 1:06.73 and the 200 yard Individual Medley at 2:24.64, which bodes well for him at the GNC conference meet coming up next Friday at Lakeland.   

2nd place individual finishes were recorded by Victor Ierulli—500 yard freestyle at 6:47.48 and in his last home dual meet as a senior, Alex Tollison swam the 100 butterfly in 1:21.69.

The Hatchets will head to Lakeland next Friday evening (2/3/12) for the first ever, boys swimming, GNC conference meet.
