Walker holds forum at NTC

Tuesday, October 25, 2011

Around 25 local business leaders participated in a forum with Governor Scott Walker yesterday at North Central Technical College.

Walker posed the question, "what can the state do to make it easier for businesses to create jobs. Two of the ideas given by the attendees representing agriculture, construction, manufacturing and tourism, were more skilled workers and fewer regulations.

Walker said the state is working on ways to get unemployed workers necessary skills to fill the nearly 34,000 openings on the states jobs website, many of which are unfilled due to the skills required.

Host North Central Technical College representatives say they are ready to meet business needs by providing a skilled workforce.

The meeting was another in a series held by the governor who previously held discussions in Green Bay, LaCrosse, Eau Claire, Milwaukee and Madison.
