Merrill man dies in rollover crash

Thursday, May 15, 2008

A 41-year-old Merrill man died following a one-vehicle rollover crash on Highway 107 on Wednesday.

First responders were called to the scene at about 6:35 pm on Wednesday in the Town of Marathon.

A dispatcher with the Wisconsin State Patrol said Wednesday night that a resident in the area came upon the crash and that it was not clear whether the man died because of the crash.

The driver was found hanging upside down in the vehicle and not breathing, according to Marathon County dispatch reports.  It was unknown how long the vehicle and driver had been there.

According to a Wisconsin State Patrol release, family members reported the man missing after he failed to return home in the early afternoon.  The release also stated the man was wearing a seat belt.
