Five arrested in Oneida County
Friday, September 30, 2011
Police have arrested 5 people for a
string of Northwoods break-ins, including 1 who
escaped from police Wednesday.
Law enforcement believes the 5 are involved in break-ins to 3
homes in Sugar Camp and Pelican. Firearms, tools and other home furnishings
were taken from the homes.
Police referred the suspected burglars to the Oneida County
district attorney's office on charges including burglary while armed, theft,
possessing stolen property, and bail jumping.
One of the suspects has been identified as 27-year-old Jay
Lloyd of Gleason. He was in news yesterday as the Vilas County Sheriff Office
said he ran when a deputy confronted him in Eagle River. Police are not
releasing the names of the other suspects. The investigation is ongoing and
more arrests are possible.
Most of the items stolen have been recovered. Several tips
from the public were valuable during the investigation.
