Nicolet offering construction classes

Nicolet College will be offering a new architectural technology program aimed at giving students traditional building trade skills while incorporating green building practices.

The program is designed to have graduates emerge with a knowledge of energy-saving or other environmentally-sustainable features in the home.

The two year associate degree is comprised of 23 classes including traditional construction courses as well as green-oriented offerings such as Building Green Residential, Alternative Energy Overview and Principles of Sustainability.

Jeff Labs, a building trades instructor says, "Green construction is a clear trend in the industry." He added that this will give students an advantage in landing a first job after college and advancing in the field. Information is available on the Nicolet College website.
