Scarecrow contest on Main Street
Friday, September 30, 2011
Downtown Tomahawk should be crow-free
in October, as businesses will be displaying scarecrows.
It is all part of Tomahawk's annual Fall Family Festival held
in conjunction with the Gap is Bridged celebration. The event will be held at
the former express video parking lot with many activities including the first
Scarecrow Contest from noon until 2. Basic Scarecrow building supplies are
provided although participants are invited to bring additional materials.
Tomahawk Main Street will display the scarecrows donated from
the event to decorate the Main Street District. The first place winner will
receive $200, with prizes for second, third and judges pick.
Full scarecrow contest rules and a required registration from
can be picked up at the Tomahawk Surplus Store or Silver Threads Boutique,
along with Tomahawk Main Street's Facebook page or
website. Entries will be accepted until October 7 with judging taking place
October 29.
In addition to the Build-A-Scarecrow contest, the Fall Family
festival will have a farmer's market mini pumpkin painting station and festival
treats, including cider and hot chocolate.
