Crime Stoppers tip catches Weston man
Thursday, December 8, 2011
Following a Crime Stoppers tip, a
Weston man was caught breaking into a business yesterday morning.
Anthony Gaston made his initial court appearance on burglary,
possession of burglary tools, attempted theft and
obstruction charges in the afternoon.
According to the police, they received a call to Crime toppers saying that the 48 year old had been breaking into Melron Corporation to steal metal bars. The call said it
was occurring once or twice a week.
An Everest Metro officer was checking the business early
yesterday morning at around 1:30 when he saw Gaston leave. When he saw the
officer he went back into the building and left through another door. Following
a brief foot chase he was arrested.
Company officials found a pallet with white brass bars and 60
pounds of red brass trimmings he was allegedly attempting to take. The items
are worth around $1,000.
Gaston was currently on probation for his role in a May 2008
burglary.
The judge set a $15,000 bond and a preliminary hearing for
December 19.
