Tuesday, December 13, 2011

Governor Scott Walker put a positive spin on the state's economy yesterday in Minocqua.

Despite several large job losses in the Wausau area, Walker said the state is moving forward with job growth. He added that Brokaw and Mosinee are parts of the state which will have a focus on help immediately. He explained that his administration is working to create a better business environment.

Walker was presenting at the 5th Governor's Northern Wisconsin Economic Summit. The two day event began yesterday and will continue throughout today. Most of the state's cabinet secretaries were on hand to explain how they are working to improve job creation, especially in the north.

Walker says the job creators will focus on the state's core businesses of industry, tourism and agriculture. He believes "those are the businesses that will take us out of the economic downturn.”

According to Walker, in the past year, 20 thousand private sector jobs have been created toward his goal of 250 thousand new jobs by 2015.
