There
was a report of 25-30 used car batteries stolen over the past three months at
an area business. The most recent ones were stolen this past week. The owner
said he would be securing the batteries. An employee also said they have been
painting the tops of the batteries orange. Tomahawk Battery was made aware of
the situation to look out for the painted batteries.
A person reported a woman
with no driver's license drives to Merrill early each morning and then returns
in the afternoon. An officer verified that the woman did not have a valid
driver's license. The following day, the 27 year old woman was stopped and
cited for operating without a driver's license second offense.
On Friday there was a fight
reported at a West Spirit Avenue residence. The suspect fled prior to the
officer's arrival. The fight allegedly occurred over money. The victim didn't
want charges filed and would not speak to the officer. Lincoln County deputies
assisted in looking for the suspect who was not found. An officer is investigating.
A man said that his tires
were slashed on his vehicle overnight on Saturday. An officer observed slash
marks on the top of the two rear tires. The vehicle had been parked on North
2nd Street when it happened.
There were two separate gas
run-offs reported over the weekend. The first was for approximately $5. After
several attempts to contact the suspect, the person eventually came back and
paid the money. The second man purchased several other items in the gas station
and didn't realize the gas wasn't included. He also came back and paid.
On Sunday evening at just
before 6 a man said his home was spray painted. He believed the vandalism
occurred within a half an hour of the call. Officers spoke with the man as well
as several others in the area. No one had seen anything suspicious. An officer
is investigating.
