Monday, December 26, 2011
A fire on the morning of Christmas
Eve left a home in Lincoln County destroyed.
Authorities received the fire call in the town of Pine River
on County Rd. W at around 9:30 Saturday morning. The fire began in the garage
of the home and then spread into the rest of the house. The Lincoln County
Sheriff's department reported that the two homeowners were at the the home at
the time. Both were able to get out safely, but one did suffer minor burns.
The Pine River fire chief said that while they may be able to
salvage some items, the structure is nearly a total loss.
The fire fighters spent nearly 5 hours trying to put out the
blaze. Pine River, Merrill and Town of Texas Departments all aided in
extinguishing the fire. Authorities are still investigating the cause.
Fortunately for the owners, they have family nearby and were
able to stay with them for the holidays. The Red Cross was also in contact and
will be assisting the family.
