Two-vehicle crash at Highway 8 and U
The
Wisconsin State Patrol responded to a two-vehicle crash, which occurred on
Highway 8 and County Highway U in Lincoln County at about 11:58 am Monday
morning.
Three
people were injured in the crash, 81-year-old Warren Yahr, 80-year-old Carol
Yahr and 18-year-old Michael Destaercke.
All three were transported from the scene to Sacred Heart Hospital in
Tomahawk.
Mr. And
Mrs. Yahr were flown to Aspirus Hospital in Wausau and Destaercke was flown to
St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.
Carol Yahr died at Aspirus, while Warren Yahr is in critical
condition. Michael Destaercke is
also in critical condition.
The
initial investigation of the crash indicates Michael Destaercke was westbound
on Highway 8 and was struck nearly head-on by the Yahr vehicle was crossed the
centerline.
The
crash remains under investigation, and the Wisconsin State Patrol will be doing
a reconstruction.
