Marshfield soldier’s body returned to US

Joseph Altmann, the Army medic from Marshfield who was killed in Afghanistan had his body returned yesterday.

Altmann's family including his parents, wife and siblings all attended the transfer ceremony at the Dover Air Force Base in Delaware.

Funeral arrangements are still pending at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and the visitation will be at Columbus Catholic high school, where Altmann graduated.

Altmann was killed by small arms fire in Kunar province on Christmas Day. He was 27 years old. He was scheduled to return from his current tour early next year and relatives say he and his wife planned to move to Colorado Springs to start a family.
