UWSP professor asks judge to block records
release
Thursday, December 29, 2011
The University of Wisconsin-Stevens
Point professor accused of hitting a student is asking a judge to block the
release of disciplinary records from her personnel file.
Meghan Buckley is suing the UW Board
of Regents to block records from being released, and also filed a restraining
order barring the school from releasing the records while the lawsuit is
pending. The lawsuit states that the information is sought for the sole purpose
to disparage her reputation and serves no interest to the public. She also says
the records are incomplete and inaccurate. The lawsuit was filed December 13th
in Portage County Circuit court.
Also related to that incident, Wesley
Shaw the student hit, is attempting to serve Buckley
with a restraining order. Shaw has not been able to serve Buckley. The hearing
was scheduled for last week, but was rescheduled for February 29th. Buckley
still works at the school in a non-teaching role, but court documents list an
address of a city outside of St. Paul, MN.
Shaw could serve Buckley if he publishes
a notice a newspaper in the county of her last residence.
